Our approach

What is different about Russian documents

Names are transliterated the way they appear in your foreign passport, not by a dictionary rule — so Юлия becomes Iuliia or Yulia, whichever your passport says. Tell us the spelling once; we use it everywhere.

Patronymics are kept (Ivanovna, Sergeevich) and never turned into a middle name; feminine surname endings (Иванова) stay as written, with a translator’s note that the family name is Ivanov/Ivanova.

Soviet and post-Soviet institutions are translated with their standard English names and the original in brackets where it matters: ЗАГС → “Civil Registry Office (ZAGS)”, ОВИР/УФМС → “Migration Service”, ГИБДД → “State Traffic Inspectorate”. Grades «отлично / хорошо / удовлетворительно» are rendered as excellent / good / satisfactory with the 5-point scale explained once.

Every stamp, seal and apostille is reproduced in the same position: [round seal: Department of ZAGS, Minsk City Executive Committee]. Dates stay in the original order with the month written out.

Example: a diploma (1 page) with a 3-page transcript, certified = $79.80; add notarization for a university = $35. A birth and a marriage certificate, both notarized = $39.90 + $50 = $89.90.

Questions

Russian Translation FAQ

Is a translation done in Russia or Belarus accepted by USCIS?

Often not: USCIS needs a certification by a translator competent in English, in English, with contact details. We re-certify or re-translate such documents for the same $19.95 per page.

My diploma transcript is 4 pages of subjects — how is that priced?

By page: one side with up to 250 words is one page. Dense transcript pages may count as two; we confirm the count before translating and never charge more without asking.

Which spelling of my name will you use?

The one in your passport or visa. If you have none yet, we follow the current ICAO-based Russian passport rules and note it on the certificate.

Do you translate the apostille?

Yes, when it is attached to the document — at no extra page charge if it fits on the same page.

Do you also translate Ukrainian, Belarusian or Kazakh documents?

Yes. Bilingual Belarusian/Russian and Kazakh/Russian forms are translated from both languages at one price per page.
