Documents we translate from Vietnamese
Giấy khai sinh — birth certificate
Original 1990s–2000s forms, bản sao trích lục (extracts) and re-issued certificates — the issuing Ủy ban nhân dân and registration number are translated.
Giấy chứng nhận kết hôn / quyết định ly hôn
Marriage certificates and divorce decisions of the Tòa án nhân dân, including the court’s seal and judge’s signature.
Sổ hộ khẩu / giấy xác nhận cư trú
Household registration books (every member’s page) and the newer residence confirmations that replaced them — often required for I-130 and K-1 cases.
Bằng tốt nghiệp and bảng điểm
High-school and university diplomas with transcripts — subjects, credits and the 10-point grading scale preserved for WES and admissions.
Phiếu lý lịch tư pháp
Judicial record certificates No. 1 and No. 2 from the Sở Tư pháp, with the apostille or consular legalization page.
Căn cước công dân, hộ chiếu, giấy phép lái xe
Citizen ID cards (old CMND and new chip CCCD), passports and driver’s licences for the DMV and employers.
Sổ đỏ, hợp đồng, giấy ủy quyền
Land-use certificates, contracts and powers of attorney for property, business and court matters.
Sổ tiêm chủng and medical records
Vaccination books and hospital papers for schools and the I-693 medical exam.
What is different about Vietnamese documents
Names keep the Vietnamese order (family name first — NGUYỄN Thị Minh) with a translator’s note on the certificate, and the spelling follows your passport, where diacritics are dropped: Nguyen Thi Minh. Tell us the passport spelling once and we use it everywhere.
Administrative units and offices are translated with their standard English equivalents and the original kept in brackets where it matters: «Ủy ban nhân dân» → “People’s Committee”, «Sở Tư pháp» → “Department of Justice”, «phường / xã / huyện / tỉnh» → “ward / commune / district / province”. Document types keep their official English names: «trích lục» → “extract”, «bản sao» → “certified copy”.
Every red seal is the legal signature on a Vietnamese document, so each one is described with the full issuing authority — [red seal: People’s Committee of Ward 5, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City] — together with the «sao y bản chính» (true copy) stamps on certified copies.
Dates in day-month-year order are converted to month-day-year with the month spelled out; lunar-calendar birth dates on older papers are kept with a note. The 10-point grading scale and xếp loại (Giỏi / Khá / Trung bình) are translated as Excellent / Good / Average with the scale explained once.

Vietnamese Translation FAQ
Does USCIS accept your Vietnamese translations?
Yes. Every translation comes with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3). If USCIS rejects it for a translation reason, we fix it free or refund you in full.
My document was translated and notarized in Vietnam — do I need a new one?
Usually yes. A translation certified by a Vietnamese phòng công chứng is often not accepted because the certification is not in the US form. We re-certify or re-translate it for the same $19.95 per page.
Which spelling of my name will you use?
The one in your passport or visa, without diacritics. If you have none yet, we transcribe the Vietnamese spelling without tone marks and note it on the certificate.
The hộ khẩu has pages for every family member — how is it priced?
By page: each page with text, up to 250 words, is one page. Blank pages are not counted. We confirm the count before translating.
Can you translate a photo sent by my family from Vietnam over Zalo?
Yes — JPG, PNG or PDF, as long as every word and seal is legible.
